Orehovo village is located on 900 m altitude, 210 km from Sofia and only 60 km southwest from Plovdiv, near Chepelare city (25km) and Pamporovo ski resort (35 km).
Initially it is registered in 1576 as Rahovo. The name comes from the ancient Slavic word for walnut.
Upon a proposal of the local tourist society the village celebrates its patron, the walnut tree, on the first Saturday of September. On this festival you could try dozens of dishes prepared with the delicious nuts. Competitions are held for hardness, strength, agile mind, accompanied by music and dances.
